I spent $200 on a chemex and went back to my $20 french press within a month
Everyone in this sub kept saying chemex gives the cleanest cup so I bought one last month. Made like 10 batches and tried different grinds and pouring methods. Every single cup tasted thin and flat to me compared to what I get from my old french press. That $200 just sits in my cabinet now while I keep using the press I got at target for $20. Anyone else find high end pour over gear overrated for actual daily drinking?

Sounds like you just don't like clean coffee...

Man you're hitting on something bigger than coffee here. It's like when everyone tells you a certain restaurant is the best in town so you go and drop 40 bucks on a tiny plate of food, but you'd rather be at the diner eating a burger and fries that actually tastes good to you. Or when someone swears by a fancy skincare routine with 12 steps but your skin looks fine after just washing your face with cheap soap. Sometimes the "right" way isn't actually the right way for you. Your taste buds aren't wrong just because they don't agree with the internet hive mind.
