Remember when cold brew was just weird iced coffee?
I used to laugh at the idea of cold brew, thinking it was just a fancy name for old coffee left in the fridge. A friend in Seattle made a batch for me about two years ago, and I was shocked. It wasn't bitter at all, just smooth and strong. I started making my own with a cheap mason jar and a filter, letting it sit for a full 18 hours. The difference in taste from my old quick-chilled pot was huge. Now I can't go back to regular iced coffee in the summer. It's a simple change, but it made me realize some trends actually have a point. Anyone else have a coffee method they hated at first but now can't live without?

Right? It's so much smoother than regular iced coffee. I started making my own at home, it's way cheaper too.

Honestly, I thought it was a total scam for the longest time. Just overpriced, weak coffee for people who didn't like the taste of coffee. Then a barista friend basically forced a glass on me. The complete lack of that bitter, burnt taste was a real shock. I had to admit I was completely wrong about it. Now my French press is basically a dedicated cold brew machine from May to September.
