Shoutout to the barista who called me out for being a snob
I was at this indie shop in Portland last Tuesday ordering a pour over. I started grilling the guy about his water temp and bean origin. He just looked at me and said, 'You ever just drink the coffee and shut up for once?' Stung for a second but he was right. Anyone else had a coffee worker put you in your place like that?

Man, that "shut up and drink the coffee" line is gold. In my experience, getting called out like that can be the best thing for you. I had a similar thing happen at a shop in Seattle where I was nitpicking their espresso shot timing. The barista just pushed my cup over and said, "This isn't a lab, man, it's a Tuesday morning." Stung a little, but he was totally right. I was so wrapped up in the details I forgot that coffee is supposed to be enjoyable, not a test. Your mileage may vary, but sometimes you need someone to remind you to just taste the dang thing.

Right, the barista calling you out like that is honestly a gift. It's that moment where you realize you're the one making everything harder than it needs to be. Sometimes the best thing that can happen is someone just shuts down your nonsense so you can actually enjoy what's in front of you.

Totally agree. Sometimes you just need someone to snap you out of it and remind you to chill.
