Showerthought: I was wrong about my pour over kettle

For years I used a basic gooseneck kettle I got for $25, thinking it was fine. Last month I borrowed my friend's Stagg EKG with the built-in thermometer and timer. The difference in control was huge, especially for light roasts. I could keep the water at exactly 205 degrees and pour way steadier. My cups from the same Ethiopian beans tasted brighter and more even. What's a small upgrade that really changed your coffee game?

Actually, 205 is a bit high for light roasts.

What's the one thing you overpaid for? I spent way too much on a scale before realizing my kitchen scale works fine.

Forgot I owned a fancy garlic press after just smashing cloves with a knife for a year.
