A guy at my local shop told me I was a 'cover snob' and it stung
He said I only looked at the art and never gave weird or ugly books a real chance. That was about six months ago, and I decided to prove him wrong. I started picking one book a week just based on the writer or a friend's tip, ignoring the cover. Found three new favorite series that way, including a weird sci-fi comic called 'Deep Signal' I would have walked right past. Honestly, it made collecting way more fun. Has anyone else had a reading habit totally changed by a simple comment?

Ever think about how a bad cover can actually be a warning sign for a bad story? I tried the same thing and grabbed a book with a super generic spaceship cover. The writing inside was just as lazy and full of cliches, lol. Sometimes the art is bad because the team didn't care, and that vibe goes all the way through. It made me realize a cool cover at least shows someone put real effort in.

A comment like that can really push you to try new things, can't it? I started grabbing books with blurbs that sounded interesting but covers I hated, and it broke me out of a huge rut. Now my reading list has way more variety, and I'm glad for the shake-up.
