Ditko Spidey vs the 90s cartoon, no contest and I'll die on this hill

I reread the first 20 issues of Amazing Spider-Man last month after binging the 90s animated series with my nephew, and Ditko's Peter is a broke, angry kid who snaps at Aunt May and pushes girls away. The cartoon made him a quippy nice guy and it killed the whole point. Which version actually got you into the character?
