Dropped a full long box at a con in Denver, here's what I learned

Last Saturday at the Denver Comic Expo, I was carrying a long box of Silver Age books to a grading table and the bottom gave out. Maybe 180 comics spilled across the convention floor, a few got stepped on before I could even react. I spent the next 20 minutes sorting them by urgency, putting any bent ones in a separate stack for pressing later. The worst part was a near-mint Fantastic Four #48 that now has a corner crease, my fault for trusting that old box. Anyone else had a con disaster that made you rethink how you carry your collection?

Ever had one of those moments where you instantly age ten years just watching your books hit the floor? I feel your pain, man. Last time I tried to move a stack of trades in a plastic bin, the handle snapped and I just stood there like a statue while they scattered into a puddle. At least you got to the pressing stage, I spent an hour picking wet pages off my driveway. That FF #48 hurts to read about, but that box was probably trying to tell you something before it gave out. Now I only trust those hard plastic bins with the snap lids, no matter how uncool they look.
