Found a gem at the library comic section in Austin
Was killing time between jobs and hit the public library downtown. They had a whole wall of back issues, not just trades. Snagged a 1987 Power Man and Iron Fist for a dollar at their used sale. Anyone else's local library hiding old floppies?
Libraries selling old floppies for a buck sounds good until you actually look at what's on that wall. That 1987 Power Man is probably beat to hell, and the cover is likely ripped or has someone's kid's name scrawled on it. Dollar bin comics are usually dollar bin for a reason, and most of that stuff is just filler issues nobody wanted back in the day. You're paying a dollar for something that's been sitting in a musty basement or a library box for thirty years, and half the time the pages are yellowed and brittle. Plus, libraries only offload the junk they can't get anyone to read, so the real gems are long gone. I'd rather spend the same dollar on a new digital issue or save up for a key book that's actually worth something.
