Hotel chaos at the last comic con nearly wrecked my whole trip
Last year, I drove to a big comic con in Chicago without booking a hotel, thinking I could find something last minute. That was a huge mistake. Every place near the con was full or had insane prices, so I slept in my car for two nights. It ruined my whole trip because I was too tired to enjoy the early panels I wanted to see. Now, I always book my room as soon as dates are out. Learn from my error and plan ahead to avoid turning a fun event into a stressful mess.

Wait, booking way ahead takes all the surprise out of the trip! I've scored amazing last-minute deals by waiting until everyone else panics and cancels. Sleeping in the car sounds rough, but it makes for a wild story later. Honestly, having every detail planned makes the whole thing feel like a chore, not an adventure. The best cons are the messy ones where anything can happen!

I mean, the part about sleeping in the car making a wild story just sounds like a bad time to me. Idk, maybe it's just me but I like knowing I have a place to crash so I can focus on the fun stuff. Sure, last minute deals can be cool, but running around with no plan feels more hectic than adventurous. Having a rough idea of what you're doing means you actually get to enjoy the con instead of solving problems all weekend.

Atlanta last year taught me you can balance both. I book a refundable room early but still watch for last-minute upgrades or cheaper spots. That way you have a backup plan but can still chase a better deal if one pops up.
