Longtime collectors vs new readers is getting weird at conventions
Went to Wizard World Austin last month and noticed something. Old guys like me are just flipping through long boxes for keys from the 80s, but the younger crowd is standing in 45 minute lines for a sketch from a TikTok artist. It's like two different hobbies now. Anyone else feel the divide getting bigger?

Wait, you guys actually saw a TikTok artist line at a con? I used to roll my eyes at that stuff but after walking past one booth where a 19 year old was selling prints for $80 and had a crowd... yeah, I get it now. The energy is totally different.

Man, you hit the nail right on the head. I went to a smaller con in St. Louis last spring and watched a guy pay fifty bucks for a rushed sketch of some anime cat girl while I dug through a dollar bin for mid-grade X-Men. The energy in those two lines was totally different, like we weren't even at the same show. It's wild how fast that split happened, feels like it crept up on us over the last five years.
