Overheard two dudes at a coffee shop arguing about whether Wolverine's healing factor would let him survive being cut in half
I was just trying to get an iced coffee last Saturday and these two guys were going at it for like 10 minutes. One said the healing factor would kick in before he bled out, the other said no way because the brain is split. It made me think about how much time we all put into debating stuff that literally doesn't exist. I mean I've spent whole afternoons arguing about Batman vs Iron Man myself. Has anyone else ever caught yourself defending a comic book character's powers way too seriously in public?

Hate to be that person but the brain split thing isn't quite right. Wolverine's healing factor is actually strong enough to regenerate from a single cell as long as that cell isn't destroyed. The bigger problem is that being cut in half would kill him before the healing got going because his organs would fail. There's a comic where he gets blown up and comes back but it takes hours and he's basically a skeleton. So those guys were probably both wrong if they thought he'd just pop back together instantly. The real debate should be about how long he'd be dead for and if he'd even remember anything.

Except you're forgetting that in Age of Apocalypse he literally got ripped in half by Sabretooth and came back in like five minutes with all his memories intact. Pretty sure the writers don't care about organ failure when they want a cool scene.
