Tried buying a full run of X-Men #1-50 at a con last month and got a surprise

I thought the seller would cut me a deal for buying the whole lot, but he actually added $5 per issue just for the hassle of pulling them all from his long boxes. Now I'm wondering if I should just hunt them down issue by issue at flea markets instead. Has anyone else had sellers charge more for convenience?

Was the $5 extra per issue made clear up front or a surprise at checkout?

Wasn't clear until checkout. Had to back out of the cart. Sneaky.

Ugh yeah I used to be all "just read the page carefully" whenever people complained about surprise fees, but this got me too. I clicked through thinking it was a one-time thing and then bam at checkout there's the extra charges. Totally changed my mindset on that. It's one thing if you're not paying attention but when they literally hide it until the last step that's on them.
