Used to think collecting variant covers was a waste of money

My buddy in Portland has 300 variants and I always gave him grief about it. Took me buying one for $15 at a convention and realizing how much I liked the art on my wall now I get it.

Buddy framed his first variant and now calls it his retirement fund.

Read somewhere that the whole variant cover craze started as a gimmick to save comic shops during the 90s bubble, which is kinda funny. National Public Radio did a piece on it last year, talked about how some of those early 90s variants are still worthless while others shot up like crazy. Framing them as art makes total sense though, way better than them sitting in a longbox for decades.
