Dropped $400 on a used Kirby Morgan band mask that turned out to be a dud

Got it from a guy on Craigslist in Tampa last month, said it was 'lightly used.' First dive down to 60 feet and the exhaust valve started leaking like crazy, flooded my face. Had to surface and call it a day, lost the whole job. Anyone else get burned buying used gear online?

That Craigslist seller in Tampa sounds like a total scumbag. I've had good luck with used regs but masks are a gamble, especially if you can't test the valve seals before you hand over cash. Next time, at least try to get the guy to test it in a bucket of water or show you a video of it holding pressure.

Oh man, that reminds me of the time I bought a used drysuit off eBay and the zipper gave out on my first real dive!
