Had a sudden silt-out in zero vis on a bridge piling job in Mobile Bay
The current kicked up the bottom and I couldn't see my hand in front of my face. I just froze for a second, then went by feel on my umbilical back to the down line. Anyone else had to work blind like that and what's your go-to move?

Man, zero vis on a bridge piling sounds like a real party. My go-to move is to just stop moving and have a quiet panic for a minute. Then it's all about finding that umbilical and pretending my fingers can see. Makes you really appreciate those boring dives where you can actually, you know, see stuff.

Wyatt's Jaws theme idea is a solid panic move. Read about a diver who found a whole shopping cart down there once.

So you just turned into a human Roomba feeling your way along the floor cord? My go-to move is to hum the theme from Jaws really quietly, because if something's gonna eat me in the dark, at least it should have a soundtrack. That umbilical is the best friend you never wanted to have, right? What's the weirdest thing you've bumped into while blind down there?
