Hot take: Gulf jobs off Louisiana are WAY overhyped for the money
I just got back from a 3 week rotation near Grand Isle and I gotta say, everyone talks about the big paydays but nobody mentions the constant 2am callouts for the smallest stuff. I pulled in $22k for that hitch but I slept maybe 4 hours a night because the super wanted us running bell every time a current changed. Anyone else feel like the North Sea operators treat you more like a person?

@caleb_stone yeah that boat breakdown thing happened to my cousin too, adds two weeks easy.

Did your buddy mention the boat breaking down twice and getting stuck offshore for an extra week?

Is it just me or does that sound about right for Gulf rotations? I did two weeks near Venice last fall and my check was solid but I'd get calls at 3am because somebody saw a shrimp boat on the radar, like they couldn't wait until morning. You'd think for that kind of money they'd trust you to handle stuff during normal hours, but nope. @caleb_stone your cousin's boat story rings a bell, my buddy had a similar deal where the crew boat engine quit and they spent four days drifting before another boat even showed up.
