Hot take: I started using a cheap garden sprayer for my dive suit and it's a game changer
My old suit pump died on a job in Tampa and I was facing a 3 hour drive to the nearest dive shop. I grabbed a 2 gallon garden sprayer from a hardware store for 15 bucks, rigged the hose to my suit valve, and it worked perfectly for the whole week. Has anyone else ever used a totally off the shelf tool to fix a dive gear problem?

Love that kind of on the fly thinking. Had to use a bike pump once when my inflator hose o ring blew out on a boat. It was a real arm workout but it got me through the last two dives. Sometimes the simple fix is the best one.

Read about a guy who used a turkey baster to clear his mask in a pinch. Improvising with regular stuff is half the fun of diving.
