A client's question about SSD lifespan made me question my own stance
Had a chat last Thursday with a small business owner in Tulsa who was dead set against switching to solid state drives. He told me he lost a drive to a power surge in 2019 and figured every SSD was just a ticking time bomb. I pushed back at first, but then he asked me if I actually tracked my own drive failure rates over the years. I had to admit I never kept the numbers on that, just went with what I heard from other techs. That got me thinking about how many of my recommendations are based on habit instead of hard data from my own shop. Any of you keep a log of your drive failures across brands and models, or am I the only one flying blind here?
