Client's PC died on a Friday at 4:45 and the $80 fix was buried under a pile of invoices
Last Friday I was packing up my bench in Sacramento when a regular client called in a panic. Her front desk PC at the dental office just went black mid appointment and she had three patients in chairs. I walked her through the power button and nothing. So I drove over. I checked the outlet first, then the PSU with my tester, and everything looked fine until I noticed the tower was sitting on a shag rug with the intake vents completely fuzzed over. The thing had been cooking itself for who knows how long. I pulled the side panel right there in the lobby, blew out about a half inch of dust mat, reseated the RAM, and it posted on the first try. Charged her $80 for the house call and told her to get the tower off the carpet. She texted me Monday saying it's been running quiet ever since. Has anyone else had a dusty machine fake a full hardware failure on them?
