Had a client bring in a waterlogged laptop from a flood in Houston last week.

They wanted me to save the data, but the drive was so corroded I couldn't even get it to spin up after three hours. What's your go-to line when you have to tell someone their stuff is just gone for good?

Let it dry for a week before you even try turning it on.

Blew up my gaming rig last year when Tropical Storm Imelda hit. had it on the floor (rookie mistake, I know) and the water came in through the garage door. fried the power supply instantly. let it dry for a month and even replaced the CMOS battery, but the motherboard was toast. never got that save file back either.
