Just noticed a huge dust buildup difference after switching filter brands at my shop in Denver
I swapped from those cheap generic filters to a higher MERV rated one from Nordic Pure about 3 months back. The before and after on my intake vents is night and day, way less dust getting into the cases now. Has anyone else seen a big change just from a filter swap, or am I overthinking this?

Oh man, same thing happened to me. Switched to a higher MERV filter and the difference was honestly ridiculous. I was vacuuming dust off my intake every two weeks before, now it's maybe once a month. You're not overthinking it, filters make a huge difference.

Right? Once I swapped filters I could actually breathe in my own house. My old one was basically just letting everything through. Now I check it less and the air feels cleaner, not just less dusty. Totally with you on that upgrade.

Ha, yeah @paige427 nailed it, filters are way more important than people give them credit for. Just a heads up though, something like a MERV 13 can actually restrict airflow too much in some older HVAC systems, so it's worth checking your static pressure if you go that high. But honestly, if your dust levels dropped that much you probably found the sweet spot.
