My boss laughed at me for using a bootable USB instead of a CD-RW at work yesterday
So I'm in the middle of troubleshooting an old Dell OptiPlex that won't boot past POST, and my boss walks by while I'm plugging in my USB drive with Hiren's BootCD on it. He literally snorts and goes 'you still use that old thing? I just pop in a CD and move on.' I mean, this is a guy who's been doing IT since 1998, so I kinda froze. But then I realized, the USB drive takes maybe 2 seconds, I can rewrite it for different tools, and I don't have to dig through a drawer of scratched discs. I bit my tongue but later I thought about it - he's still clinging to physical media because that's how he learned. After that, I decided I'm not gonna be that guy who refuses to adapt when something better comes along. Has anyone else had a senior tech look down on your method even when it's faster?

Old enough to remember booting from a stack of 3.5 floppy discs.
