PSA: That $60 grounding strap kit I bought was a total waste of money
I see people on here all the time swearing by those fancy grounding wrist straps for working on PCs. I finally caved and bought a kit with the mat and strap for about 60 bucks. After using it for six months on builds and repairs in my home office, I honestly think it's overkill for most jobs. The strap kept coming loose, the mat curled up at the edges, and it was a hassle to clip to the desk every time. I just touch the metal case frame before I start and avoid shuffling my socks on the carpet. Never had a static issue. That 60 bucks could have bought a decent tool set or a couple of good flash drives. Has anyone else ditched the fancy gear and gone back to basics with no problems?

You ever just touch the case and call it good?

Oh man, guilty as charged. Sometimes it's all I got in me.

My buddy poked his PC once and said "yep it's on.
