Read that 40% of data loss in small shops is from simple power surges, not drives failing
I was looking at a report from a power supply maker's site, and it said that number. I always thought drives just wore out on their own. How many of you actually use surge protectors on every single workstation you set up?

Honestly, that stat is wild but it tracks. Tbh my old boss refused to buy proper protectors for the office PCs, said they were a scam. We lost a whole billing system one Tuesday after a storm, just fried the motherboard. He changed his tune real fast after that.

Man, people forget about the slow burn too. A bad strip or old wiring can let tiny surges through every day. It doesn't kill the computer dead, it just cooks the parts a little at a time. Then your hard drive dies six months early or your usb ports just stop working one by one. That hidden wear and tear costs way more over time.

A buddy of mine had the same thing happen, @loganl22. His cheap power strip couldn't handle a surge and his gaming rig just went dark. Took the graphics card with it.
