Watched a new kid try to fix a PSU by just blowing on it
Been doing this for about 8 years now and I keep seeing people treat power supplies like they're NES cartridges. Had a guy last week at my shop in Cleveland bring in a computer that wouldn't turn on. He said he blew into the fan vents and tried jiggling the cables. I showed him how to test the PSU with a multimeter and found the 5V rail was dead. The PSU was only 3 years old but it was a cheap one. Has anyone else noticed this trend of people thinking dusting off parts fixes everything?

Blowing on it works great if you're trying to make it feel appreciated before it dies.

Wait, you're telling me @martin.paige thinks blowing on it is like giving it a little pep talk before it kicks the bucket? That's brutal but honestly the most accurate take I've heard all week.

Lol honestly I just gave up and bought a new one. Sometimes you gotta know when to throw in the towel.
