First time I got a whole driveway to look like glass

Three years ago on a job in Mesa, I messed up a small patio so bad it looked like waves. Last month, I practiced on my own garage slab every weekend. Last week, I finally got a whole driveway pour to come out smooth as a mirror, no marks at all. Anyone else remember their first perfect finish?

Right, so @lisay78 nailed the real hook, huh?

That "smooth as a mirror" feeling is what makes people stick with a craft, even after the wavy patio days.

Ever notice how that feeling @lisay78 mentioned applies to stuff like woodworking too? A beginner might build a wobbly birdhouse, but the first time they sand a piece so smooth it feels like glass, that's the hook. It's not about the perfect final product, it's about chasing that one moment in the process where everything just clicks. That's what pulls you back to the shop, even after a project goes sideways.
