I used to think those $400 magnesium floats were a total gimmick until I borrowed one on a big slab pour in Dallas

My buddy had a similar change of heart. He was pouring a long driveway in the summer heat and the crew was struggling with the weight. He finally caved and rented one for the day. Said it cut their fatigue in half and they finished hours early.

Actually, the real game changer is the magnesium's weight. It's not just about gliding. That lighter weight means you're not fighting the tool all day. Your arms and back just don't get as beat up. The fatigue difference is massive on a long pour. It's the best money you can spend for crew morale.

We had a 30-yard pour for a warehouse floor last spring. I told my guys we'd just muscle through it with the old aluminum tools. By lunch, everyone was moving slow and two guys had blisters. I called the supply house and had them drop off a magnesium bull float. The difference by 2 PM was night and day. It just glides. I bought one the next week.
