Poured a slab in July heat last week. Total disaster.
Mix set up in 20 minutes before I could even finish bull floating. Had to demo 4 yards and start over. Anyone got tricks for working fast when it's 95 degrees out?

A buddy of mine mixed in ice chunks instead of water last July and got an extra fifteen minutes.

Hate when that happens, totally feel your pain. Last time I did a pour mix I used half-frozen cubes and it clumped up something awful, wasted the whole batch. Fifteen minutes extra sounds like a win though, might have to try that trick myself next time the weather gets sticky.

Wait, ice chunks in the mix? That sounds like a good way to get cold joints and weak spots where the ice melts out. I'd be worried about the water to cement ratio getting thrown off bad when that ice finally melts. Was the concrete still workable after the ice melted, or did it turn into a soupy mess?
