PSA: I started finishing my edges before the bleed water dried and my chipping dropped a lot
Did a 24x30 slab in Tulsa last week and the edges chipped on almost every one of my last few pours. The mix was running wet, around a 5 inch slump, and I was floating the edge too early while water was still sitting on top. So I waited until the sheen left, then ran the edger slow with a light touch, and the chipping dropped way down on that pour. My finisher buddy says just tighten up the mix and keep the old timing, and he might be right about the mix. But on a wet load you can't always control that when the truck shows up late. What do you all do, wait for the sheen or just slow the pour down to begin with?
