Rant: A guy on a job in Fresno said you should never use a power trowel on a garage floor

We were finishing a big garage slab last summer, and this older finisher from another crew walked over. He pointed at my power trowel and said, 'You'll ruin the finish with that thing, hand tools only for a smooth surface.' I kept using it anyway and got a perfect, flat finish in half the time. He just shook his head and walked off. Anyone else run into this kind of old-school resistance to power tools?

Ever try a power trowel on a driveway?

Ha, that's the same logic that makes people try to use a pressure washer on their siding before they call a pro.

Whoa, that's a wild idea. Wouldn't the weight and speed just tear up the surface unless it's perfectly flat and wet? Seems like you'd need a super specific mix and timing to even have a chance. I bet most guys just stick with a regular ride-on for a reason.
