Three perfect pours in a row last Thursday at the Woodside job

Had a 60-yard slab pour for a warehouse expansion in Woodside, and the mix was so consistent I didn't have to adjust a thing from start to finish. The weather held at 72 degrees with no wind, which basically never happens around here. Anyone else ever get a day where everything just clicks and you almost feel guilty about how easy it was?

Sixty yards without touching the mix once? That's like hitting three bullseyes with your eyes closed. Last time I had a pour that easy I was so suspicious I kept checking the slump every five minutes like it was gonna turn to soup on me. My apprentice finally said "Boss, you're gonna wear a hole in that concrete." Had to laugh at myself for about the tenth time I double checked it.

That mix job you described is the kind that makes you question everything, @murphy.barbara. I had a similar run last summer where we poured nearly a hundred yards for a warehouse floor and never touched the water once. The truck just kept coming perfect batch after perfect batch. I kept walking around the slab with my hands on my hips like some kind of inspector, waiting for something to crack or settle wrong. My whole crew started giving me side-eye and one guy finally said "You look like you're waiting for a ghost to pop out of the concrete." I laughed it off but I still checked it every single day for a week before I finally believed it was good. Those pours are rare but when they happen you almost wish they'd go wrong just so you can feel normal again.
