Warning: took me 3 weekends to fix a stamping issue that turned out to be my own float
So last month I was stamping a 12x20 patio in Fresno and kept getting these shallow spots on the release, right where the texture should be deep. I bought two new stamp mats, tried three different release agents, and even had my buddy come out and watch me, thinking the mix was too dry. Turns out my magnesium float had a little nick in one corner that was dragging a low spot into the crust every pass, and I only found it when I ran my thumb along the edge at 6am on the third Saturday and felt the burr. Thirty seconds with a file fixed what cost me about 9 hours of rework and a very annoyed homeowner. Has anyone else chased a stamping problem back to a beat up float or trowel blade?
