Blew my mind when a park ranger at Yosemite said most 'alien sightings' are just drones now

I was chatting with this ranger near Glacier Point last month and he was like, people don't realize how many UFO reports are just DJI Phantoms with bright lights. Never even crossed my mind before but now I can't unsee it. Anyone else had a random conversation that made you rethink a whole conspiracy?

Went camping with my uncle once up in the Sierra Nevadas and he swore up and down he saw a UFO back in 87, said it hovered over the lake for like ten minutes then shot off faster than anything he'd ever seen. Years later I'm telling this story at a barbecue and some guy pipes up that his dad used to tinker with model rockets and built a crazy one with strobe lights that looked like that exact thing. Made me realize half of those old sightings were probably just hobbyists showing off or military tests they didn't want to admit to. Kinda makes you wonder about all those classic grainy videos too, like how many are just someone's drone project gone viral.

Man, that's wild. I totally bought into the whole "government hiding aliens" thing for years, like those old black-and-white blurry videos were legit. But after chatting with a buddy who flies drones for fun, I realized how easy it is to fool people. He put LED strips on his Mavic and hovered it over a field at night, and from a distance it looked exactly like a slow-moving, silent craft. Now I wonder how many of those classic 90s sightings were just some rich guy with a fancy remote control. Definitely shifted my whole view on the topic.

Yeah, hearing stuff like that really DOES make you stop and think. It's kind of a bummer sometimes realizing how easy it is to get tricked by something that seems so mysterious. But I'm glad your buddy showed you, better to know the truth than keep believing in something fake.
