My "investigation" phase was just me confirming my own biases for 4 years

I spent like 4 years deep in the rabbit holes thinking I was doing real research, but I only ever watched videos and read blogs that already agreed with what I wanted to believe. Then I finally checked the actual court documents on the 1996 case I was obsessed with, and the timeline in the "debunking" community matched way better than the narrative I'd been pushing. Anyone else have that gut-drop moment where you realize the other side isn't always the liar?
