Stumbled onto a leaked memo about fracking last night

My buddy works for a drilling supply company and left his laptop open. I glanced over and saw an internal memo saying they're pumping 30% more wastewater into injection wells than they report to the EPA. It was dated 4 weeks ago and had a dollar amount attached to fine them if caught. Am I being paranoid thinking this means they know something's up underground? Has anyone else seen industry documents that contradict public numbers?

Connected dots on this for a while now. Seeing the SAME pattern everywhere - they fudge the numbers on their end, then act SURPRISED when things blow up. Just last week I watched a construction crew dump extra concrete into a storm drain during a "routine" job. Nobody stopped them.

You missed a key detail though - the memo they saw had a dollar amount on it, which means fines are already calculated out, not that they're surprised by anything. That 30% gap is probably their acceptable loss margin for getting caught.
