The moon landing footage looks sharper in 2024 than it did in 1999, that bothers me

I watched the same Apollo 11 reels on VHS back in 1999 and they looked grainy and dull. Now the NASA streams look like a 4K nature doc, and nobody can tell me the original film just got better with age. Has anyone else noticed the clarity shift or am I chasing my own tail on this one?
