Trying to explain the flat earth thing to my uncle took way longer than I thought
He brought it up at a family cookout, saying he saw a video about Antarctica being an ice wall. I figured I could debunk it quick with the whole 'ships disappear hull-first' argument. That just led to him asking about CGI and NASA faking the curvature, and we went down a rabbit hole about satellite orbits. What I thought would be a 10 minute chat turned into a two hour back-and-forth on his patio. Has anyone found a concise way to shut down that specific ice wall claim without getting dragged into every single detail?

My last attempt at that took forty minutes and a napkin drawing of a boat. The problem is you can't use logic to get someone out of a spot they didn't use logic to get into. You just have to say "cool story" and get another burger.

Sometimes you gotta try, @felixramirez, even if it takes a boat drawing.

My attempt at debunking the ice wall ended with me accidentally proving my uncle wrong about the shape of my hamburger patty.
