Ran a demo crew on a 3D layout robot for a slab pour in Columbus, and it cost us 6 hours
Last month we rented a layout robot for a 40,000 sq ft slab in Columbus and I was ready to show the old guys how fast this thing could mark points. On paper it should have saved us two days. Problem was nobody checked if our control points matched the file from the engineer, so the robot started staking points 3 inches off and we didn't catch it until the second row of anchor bolts. We pulled everything up and re-shot it by hand with a total station, lost about 6 hours, and my foreman just looked at me and said "tech don't fix dumb." The robot was fine. Our setup was garbage. So now I'm wondering, does anyone else run a full check shot on like 5 points before letting the robot do a whole deck, or am I the only one who learned this the hard way?
