Warning: I thought drone flyovers were a gimmick until a 2 acre lot in Plano proved me wrong
Back when drone mapping first showed up on job sites around 2018 I figured it was just a toy for the office guys to play with. Then we had a 2 acre lot in Plano where the grade stakes kept disagreeing with the civil drawings, so the super finally paid a guy $300 to fly it and give us a surface. The point cloud showed a 9 inch hump in the middle that no one had caught, and we fixed it before the slab pour instead of after. Now I ask for a flyover before every dirt start, and the old timers on my crew still roll their eyes at me. Anyone else get dragged into this stuff kicking and screaming and end up the one pushing for it?
