A chat with my neighbor Frank changed my mind about keeping old cars on the road

We were talking in his driveway in Omaha about his 1988 Buick, which he still drives every day. He said, 'This car has seen three of my kids grow up, and it's a piece of our family history that still works.' I used to think keeping old cars running was just being stubborn, but his view made me see it as holding onto a working piece of the past. Has anyone else had a talk that flipped a long-held opinion for them?

Totally get that! Read an article about how older cars can actually have a smaller total environmental footprint than constantly making new ones. Makes you think twice about just scrapping them.

Honestly used to believe newer was always better for the planet. That article really flipped the script for me. The idea of all that manufacturing waste changes the whole math.

My old Prius changed my mind on that too.
