I finally took my Uncle Ray's advice about putting 10% of each check into a plain savings account, and 3 years later I feel dumb for arguing with him
Back in 2021 I was living in Columbus and blowing most of my check on takeout and dumb stuff, and my Uncle Ray kept saying to just move 10% into a savings account the day I get paid, before I can touch it. I told him that was boomer advice and that $60 a paycheck was pointless, but he wouldn't drop it, so I did it just to shut him up. It's not life changing money or anything, but seeing a few thousand bucks sitting there when my car died last month was a way better feeling than any of those burritos. What's the one piece of old person advice you ignored for years before finally caving?
