I picked the 3 hour bus ride over the $200 train ticket and it was fine, actually
Back in 2018 I needed to get from Boise to Spokane for my cousin's wedding. Train was $200 and pretty. Bus was $48 and took 3 hours longer. I took the bus because money was tight. The seats were weird and someone brought a full rotisserie chicken onto it. But here's the thing, I got to watch the sun come up over the Columbia River and just zone out. No wifi, no distractions, just staring out the window. I think we overpay for comfort we don't even notice after the first hour. Has anyone else taken the cheap slow option and been surprised it wasn't that bad? Or am I just telling myself that because I'm still cheap 6 years later?

Totally get this. I took the Greyhound from Portland to Seattle once instead of the train and honestly the slower pace made it feel like a road trip, plus I saved enough to grab a decent meal when I got there.
