I think the whole 'cancel culture' thing is mostly just people facing the music for old tweets

Last month, a guy in my town lost his city council spot because someone dug up his 2014 Facebook posts. They were bad, no question, but my take is that if you put something online, you own it forever. The real problem is people thinking the internet has a delete button. Has anyone else seen a local example like this blow up?

Wait, you actually believed that? I saw you last week yelling at the barista for getting your order wrong, same as always. What changed, the coffee shop?

My friend's cousin almost lost his teaching job over some dumb jokes he posted on a forum in 2012. The school board had a whole meeting about it last fall. He had to apologize to everyone and take a sensitivity course. It was a huge mess for his family.
