My pressure cooker blew its gasket after 3 uses and left me picking lentils off the ceiling

Bought this Instant Pot clone on sale for $40 from a discount store back in October, figured it was a steal. On the third time using it, the rubber ring just gave out and steam exploded everywhere, covering my kitchen in half-cooked lentils. Took me two hours to scrub the dried bits off my cabinets and stove. Anyone else had a cheap pressure cooker fail on them like this, or am I just unlucky with off-brands?

$40 for an Instant Pot clone, yeah that checks out. I've noticed this pattern with discount appliances lately where they cut corners on the one part that actually matters. Like my friend bought a "premium" air fryer from a bargain bin and the handle snapped off the first time she pulled it out, hot basket and fries all over her foot. It's almost like they know people will pay for a cheap version of a popular thing and just slap the cheapest possible seals and hinges on there. Makes you wonder what other stuff we're buying that's held together by a single rubber band and hope.

The fryer handle snapping is WILD, @the_logan but you're spot on about those cheap seals being the weak link. Lentils on the ceiling is bad enough, I can't imagine hot fries all over your foot.

Lmao bet the gasket was made out of recycled grocery bags or something.
