Question about people who say raw food diets cured their chronic issues

I thought raw food diets were total pseudoscience until my coworker in Denver dropped 30 pounds in 4 months on one and her migraines went away completely, but then her doctor said she was deficient in B12 and iron after 6 months, so is it actually legit or just a short term fluke?

My neighbor Bob in Phoenix tried this a few years back for his colitis. He lasted about 5 months on a raw vegan diet and said his stomach pain was almost gone for the first time in years. Then he started getting really tired and his hair started falling out, which turned out to be a major B12 problem. His doctor put him on supplements and told him he had to eat some cooked food or take vitamins forever. Bob ended up going back to a normal diet with just more raw veggies added in, and he says that's been the real sweet spot for him. The all-raw thing seemed to help short term but really messed him up long term because he wasn't getting enough nutrients.

Kinda wild that nobody's mentioned the Candida angle yet. Raw diets can actually feed certain gut bugs depending on what fruits and veggies you're eating. If Bob was loading up on raw fruits for energy, he might've been feeding something that wasn't quite colitis itself but made things worse in a different way. A friend of mine in Texas had a similar crash on raw foods and turns out he had a major yeast overgrowth that the sugars in raw stuff just made thrive. Cooked green veggies actually helped calm that down way better than raw ever did.
