Rant: I think small talk with coworkers is a waste of time and I stopped doing it 2 months ago
Two months ago I decided to stop doing the whole "how was your weekend" thing at my job in Columbus and just get straight to the work. I figured nobody actually cares about my cousin's wedding or my dog's vet visit, so why fake it for 5 minutes every morning? At first a couple people asked if I was mad at them, and one guy even pulled me aside to say I seemed "off" lately. But here is the thing, my actual output went up and I still help anyone who asks me a real question about a job. I am not rude, I just skip the weather and traffic talk because it eats 20 minutes a day. Does anyone else think forced office chit chat is just noise, or am I the weird one here?
