Shoutout to how food delivery apps are messing up simple takeout
I tried to get burgers delivered last Friday and it was a disaster. The app added a service fee, a delivery fee, and a tip before I even saw the food. My order showed up an hour late with cold fries and a missing drink. When I contacted support, they gave me a runaround and only offered a small credit. I think these apps make eating out more expensive and less fun for no good reason. They take a big cut from restaurants, so prices go up for everyone. My bad experience has me picking up food myself now. We should all skip the apps and call the place directly to save cash and get better service.

Watched the same thing happen with pizza last week. The app added five bucks in random fees before tipping, and the driver left it at the wrong door. Food was totally cold by the time I found it. Honestly, I just google the place now and call them. Half the time they have their own delivery guy and it's way cheaper.

But have you considered how much worse it can be dealing with the place directly? If their own driver screws up, good luck getting any help. At least with the app you can see the GPS and complain for a refund right there. Last time I called a place direct, they argued with me for ten minutes and I still ate the cost. The apps have their problems, but they actually have customer service when things go south.

Using these apps is like buying a ticket to a bad show where the main act is cold food. You get charged extra for the privilege of waiting and disappointment. At this point, picking up the phone might be the real life hack we all need.
