Spent $60 on a fancy coffee grinder that turned my beans into dust
Honestly, I thought dropping $60 on this grinder would make my mornings better, but it just made a mess. The setting said 'coarse' for French press, but I got powder that tasted like mud. I wasted a whole bag of $15 beans from a local shop in Portland before I trashed the thing. Now I'm back to buying pre-ground at the store, and it's fine. Has anyone else been burned by a kitchen gadget that just didn't work as advertised?

You tried adjusting the burrs? Mine was set wrong out of the box.

Wait, @cameron538 did you seriously have to adjust the burrs on a brand new machine? That's wild... I've been there though. My neighbor bought the same model and it was grinding way too coarse from day one. Once we tweaked the burrs a little, it was a total game changer for her shots. It's annoying that you have to mess with something out of the box, but it usually fixes the problem if you give it a patient try. I'd check a YouTube video for your specific model since some of them are tricky to take apart right...

Got a buddy who bought one of those high-end espresso machines thinking he'd save money on lattes. Thing broke after three weeks and the repair cost more than a year of Starbucks.
