Update: I used to think tipping culture was out of control, but one shift serving changed my mind
Honestly, I was one of those people who thought tipping 20% minimum was some kind of scam. But last month I worked a Friday night shift at my cousin's diner in Austin just to help out. I saw the kitchen staff split $45 in tips between 4 people after a 6 hour rush. One waitress told me she made $2.13 an hour before tips, and that number stuck with me. Now I always tip at least 25% on any meal over $30. Has anyone else had a job that flipped their view on tipping?

Did you know my friend worked six months at a diner and said the same thing about that $2.13 wage? She finally understood why servers get so happy about a decent tip.
