My dad said 'just flip it once' and my pancakes turned into a giant dough ball
He swore flipping pancakes more than once makes them tough, so I trusted him on Father's Day. I waited too long because I was scared to flip, and the whole thing stuck to the pan. Tried to scrape it up and fold it over anyway, ended up with a dense, chewy blob that my kids called a bread hockey puck. We ate cereal for breakfast instead. Anyone else get stuck following an old family cooking rule that totally backfired?

Oh man, that's brutal. Old family cooking "rules" are the worst when they backfire like that. My grandma swore you had to preheat the cast iron for 10 minutes or the cornbread would stick, and I ended up burning the butter to a crisp and serving charcoal slabs with a side of smoke alarm. Cereal was the right call honestly, sometimes you just gotta accept defeat and move on.
